When John Wraith kills his wife and child in a car accident he escapes to a South African coastal town where he meets a family who are also grieving over the violent loss of their mother. Both families traumatised by loss should help each other overcome their grief, but as Wraith’s obsession with the promiscuous teenage daughter turns into an obsession, with disastrous results. A brilliant book that makes us look at family, loss and the dark motivations of the human soul.
