Susie Figgis is one of the most experienced and renowned casting directors in the UK. She began her career on acclaimed films released in the early eighties, such as GANDHI, directed by Richard Attenborough, and LOCAL HERO. With Attenborough, she also worked on CRY FREEDOM and CHAPLIN. Her collaborations with director Neil Jordan include THE CRYING GAME, MONA LISA, INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE and MICHAEL COLLINS. Susie was also the casting director on popular films such as THE FULL MONTY and THE KILLING FIELDS. Films with Tim Burton include SLEEPY HOLLOW, SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET and his forthcoming live-action version of DUMBO. This will be a fascinating insight into the world of film casting.
David Hepworth is a popular music journalist and author, as well as being a broadcaster. He is also a former magazine editor. He began his music journalism career in the seventies, by writing for publications such as the NME. In 1979, David joined the highly popular Smash Hits and became its editor. He went on to launch other successful magazines, including Q, Mojo, Empire, Heat and The Word. In the eighties, he was a BBC TV presenter, on The Old Grey Whistle Test and the Live Aid coverage. He is the author of the acclaimed music books 1971: Never a Dull Moment and Uncommon People: The Rise and Fall of the Rock Stars, both Sunday Times bestsellers. David also writes about radio for The Guardian, is a director of Mixmag Media and is on the Advertising Standards Authority council. He also hosts The Word podcast and is an active blogger.
