Stoke Newington Guitar Festival returns for it’s 3rd year over the weekend of the 19th & 20th of November 2016.
Featuring classical guitarist Laura Snowden, hand picked by Julian Bream to play in 2015’s Julian Bream Trust recital at the Wigmore Hall in 2015… “A poignant, mesmerising show….held the Wigmore Hall rapt with a performance of unassuming poise and intensity” (Guardian 2015), “Great expectations exceeded….a true musician whose interpretative capabilities are profound and exciting. A brilliant international career awaits her over the coming decade” (Classical Guitar Magazine 2016)
Sunday evening’s concert features Declan Zapala, the percussive/crossover innovator who wowed our Festival for the first time in 2014. Since playing for us, Declan has released an acclaimed album: “Destined to become a classic. By turns melancholy, mysterious, sweet and true, 21st century lightning fast, jazzy…” (Max Reinhardt BBC Radio 3), toured the world winning the Adelaide Festival’s prize for best music show, and creating his new audio-visual show “Guitar Multiverse” featuring his own production of Steve Reich’s ‘Electric Counterpoint’ which he brings to the Festival.
We also have lunchtime concerts, workshops and masterclasses over the weekend, full details can be found on our website: www.stokenewingtonguitar.com
